Rebate Programs

Rebate Programs: In an effort to help you manage your usage and promote good energy habits, we offer several different rebate programs to our membership. These rebates include:

 

Residential: Stop by the REMC office to pick up an application for your residential rebate, or call us at 665-3563.

Fridge/Freezer recycling: Recycle your old, inefficient fridge and/or freezer and receive a $35 rebate check. As long as the unit is in working condition, between 10-30 cubic feet (inside area) and easily accessible, our contractors will pick it up and haul it away at no cost to you. Fridge Rebate

CFL Discounts: By purchasing discounted CFL's through an online store, you can receive both energy efficiency savings and savings in your pocket. More information to come. 

Heat Pump: See below for more information.    

    Heat Pump Water Heaters: Units must have an energy factor of greater than 2.0 to qualify for up to a $400 rebate. Must replace an existing electric tank water heater.   

    Geothermal: Replace an existing electric-resistance heating system with an all-electric geothermal heat pump that meets minimum efficiency standards and receive a rebate of up to $1,500. Rebate requires a copy of a heat loss/heat gain calculation and AHRI certificate from your HVAC contractor. No rebate is available to replace an existing geothermal heat pump at this time.

     Air Source: Replace an existing electric-resistance heating system (electric furnace, ceiling cable or electric baseboard) with an all-electric air-source heat pump that meets WVPA's minimum efficiency standards and receive a rebate of up to $1,500. Replace an existing all-electric air-source heat pump with a new one and receive a rebate of up to $250. Each rebate program requires a copy of a heat loss/heat gain calculation and AHRI certificate from your HVAC contractor.

 

Commercial & Industrial: Please contact the office for Commercial & Industrial inquiries.

Lighting: Replace specific high-energy use bulbs, balasts and fixtures with specific low-energy use items and receive incentives.

HVAC: Replace specific high-energy use HVAC equipment with specific low-energy use HVAC equipment and receive incentives.

School Buildings (K-12): A new program for 2012, this rebate program is targeted to energy-savings projects specific to school buildings. You will receive a 20% higher incentive in this program than in our general commercial programs. More information to come.

Farming/Ag Operations: New for 2012, this program is targeted to items frequently found on farming operations. An energy audit can also be arranged to identify the largest energy users and how to reduce them. More information to come.

Custom: A new program in 2012, this can be used for energy-saving projects that do not fit into their prescriptive programs. All projects will be reviewed for their energy savings and a payment made based on a flat amount per kWh saved in the first year.
